We spend a lot more time in journeys than destinations. A lot of what we can control are the processes, not the outcomes.
When we feel good and happy about “doing the work”, the results usually take care of themselves.
In today’s collection of insights, let us focus on the value of journeys and processes.
What some wise people have to say about it
I
I change best when I feel good about myself [while doing the action], not when I feel bad about myself [that I have not achieved a particular outcome].
— BJ Fogg
II
Your idea that you have to have certain things in order to be happy is a delusion.
— Focusing the power of attention for success, by Paramhansa Yogananda.
III
There is no way to happiness, happiness is the way.
— Thich Nhat Hanh
Adding a few insights of my own
I
The work will always keep going. The question is not whether you can stop working one day, but whether you can blur the distinction between work and play, so work feels like play and work replenishes you, not depletes you.
II
If you enjoy walking more than the destination, you will reach many more destinations than you ever desire.
